Abraham and the Covenant

In Genesis 12, we see God’s promise to Abram (later called Abraham), saying, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). God chose Abraham to establish a covenant with him and his descendants. This covenant set the foundation for the nation of Israel and the eventual coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Moses and the Israelites

Moses is another key figure in the Old Testament who God chose. God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. In Exodus 3:10, God says to Moses, “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Through the story of Moses, we see God’s faithfulness in choosing and equipping individuals to carry out His plans.

David and the Kingdom

David was a shepherd boy who became Israel’s greatest king. God chose David and anointed him to lead His people. 1 Samuel 16:12 states, “And the LORD said, ‘Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!’” As a chosen king, victories and trials marked David’s entire life, and he had a heart that continually sought after God.

Jesus and His Disciples

In the New Testament, Jesus chose twelve disciples to follow Him and learn from His teachings. In Mark 3:14-15, Jesus appointed the Twelve “that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.” Being chosen by Jesus, the disciples had the unique opportunity to learn directly from the Son of God and later spread His message to the world.

Paul the Apostle

Paul, initially a persecutor of Christians, became one of the most influential apostles. In Acts 9:15, the Lord said of Paul, “He is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.” Paul’s dramatic conversion and subsequent missionary journeys played a crucial role in spreading the Gospel to the Gentile world.

The Chosen Ones in Revelation

In the book of Revelation, John writes about the 144,000 chosen ones God seals during the end times. Revelation 7:4 states, “And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.” These chosen individuals represent God’s faithful remnant during the tribulation period.
