5 Ways To Walk by Faith and Not by Sight
In this post, we will be sharing with you some practical ways to walk by faith and not by sight. We hope that these tips will better equip you as you journey through your walk with Christ!
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV, "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
This is such a powerful verse that reminds us as Christians, we are called to walk by faith and not by what we see with our physical eyes.
So often in life, it is easy to get caught up in what we see happening around us and allow that to dictate how we live our lives. But, as believers, we have to be careful not to do that!
Meaning of Walking By Faith
Walking by faith means living our lives according to what God says in His Word, not according to what we see happening in the world around us. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of this life and start living in fear.
But when we live our lives according to God's Word, we can have peace and hope, knowing that He is in control and His promises are true.
By Faith, we:
- Understand that God is unseen but ever present
- Are confident that He will work all things for our good
- Have hope in the midst of difficult circumstances
- Know that His love for us is never ending
- Are able to persevere because of His strength
How To Walk by Faith and Not by Sight

Here are some practical ways you can start walking by faith:
1. Study Gods Word
When you spend time in God's Word, you will be better equipped to face the challenges of this life. His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105).
Make it a priority to read your Bible every day, even if it's just a few verses. You can also start listening to audio versions of the Bible or reading devotionals to help you grow in your faith.

2. Trust God's Promises
Another way to walk by faith and not by sight is to trust God's promises. There are so many verses in the Bible that tell us we can trust God, no matter what we're facing.
Some of our favorite verses about trusting God include (all scriptures taken from the New King James Version NKJV):
Psalm 32:10 - "Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him."
Proverbs 16:20 - "He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he."
Proverbs 28:25 - "He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered."
Proverbs 29:25 - "The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe."
Jeremiah 17:7 - "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord."
Psalm 118:8 - "It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man."
Psalm 73:28 - "But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works."
When we trust God, we can have peace and hope knowing that He is in control and His promises are true. So if you're struggling to trust God, spend some time meditating on His promises and ask Him to help you grow in your faith.
3. Listen For God's Voice
Another way to walk by faith is to listen for God's voice. This can be done through prayer and spending time in His Word.
When we take the time to quiet our minds and hearts, we can more easily hear God speaking to us. He won't often set things up for us until He knows that you are listening to His instructions.
You can also ask God to reveal Himself to you through prayer. He knows your heart and will speak to you in a way that you will understand. Just be patient and keep listening!

4. Follow God's Direction
When we walk by faith, we follow God's direction even when it doesn't make sense to our human minds.
This can be a difficult thing to do, but it's so important to trust that God knows what He is doing. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
So if you feel like God is leading you in a certain direction, don't be afraid to take that first step of faith. He will never lead you astray!
5. Discern God's Voice
The final way to walk by faith and not by sight is to discern God's voice. This means being able to tell the difference between His voice and the enemy's voice.
The enemy will often try to lead us astray with his lies and deception. But we can have confidence that God will never lie to us or lead us into temptation (James 121).
If you're not sure how to discern God's voice, ask Him to help you. He will gladly give you wisdom and understanding!
Conclusion
When we walk by faith, we are living in obedience to God and trusting Him with our lives. As Christians, this is how we are called to live!
If you want to walk by faith and not by sight, start by taking small steps of faith each day. Trust God's promises, listen for His voice, follow His direction, and discern His voice. With God's help, you can do it!
