Through these select verses, you will discover how to keep going even through difficult times and why keeping a positive mindset can help you accomplish anything.
What does the Bible say about Persistence?
We’ve all heard the term countless times before. However, what does it truly mean to be persistent as a Christian? We too often think that just because we are Christians that God will bless us by doing anything we want him to do for us. Even though there is no denying this truth, it does not give us authority to “strong-arm” God and expect Him to give us our way.
We need to know how to be persistent in the biblical sense of the word. This is achieved by having a walk that is open, honest, and has no secrets. We cannot live like other people around us because we are different (1 Peter 2:9). We must be so secure in our relationship with Christ that it is impossible for us to retreat back into the world. We are indestructible because of Him, not apart from Him (2 Corinthians 4:10-12).
This means that we stay humble before God and man (1 Peter 5:6) and keep our walk correct with God at all times. We must be diligent to do this because if we are not, then our walk with Him becomes distant and we will stray from the correct path God has planned for us. This happens when we don’t pay attention to what others around us are doing (1 Corinthians 15:33) or neglect becoming involved in church activities (Hebrews 10:25).
As Christians, we cannot come and go as we please as most people do in this world. If God brings us into something then He will keep us for the rest of our lives. We must then stand firm in our belief and allow God to do the work that only He can do for us. This is why we must never, ever give up.
When you face difficult situations, trials, or hard times (James 1:2-4), then God wants you to be patient and be persistent with Him. Keep your eyes on God and allow His mercy to lift you up out of the pit of despair (Psalm 40:1-3). He will never disappoint those who put their trust in Him and will reward those who persevere through anything challenges they come across (Hebrews 10:36).
You can be persistent if you have faith in God. You must never give up on Him because He will never give up on you (Romans 5:4-5). Be persistent with prayer, your walk, and service to the Lord even when it seems that nothing is happening, because by doing so then you are being just like Jesus here on earth.
