It Is Well With My Soul Chords and Lyrics

We will be sharing with you "It Is Well With My Soul chords and lyrics", a popular Christian hymn written by Horatio Spafford. This hymn is based on a poem written after the tragic deaths of his wife and four daughters.

In 1873, the SS Ville du Havre collided with an iceberg while crossing the Atlantic Ocean. The ship sank quickly, and all but Spafford's wife and young sons survived. Within months, two of his sons died of scarlet fever.

In 1876, while traveling to meet his grieving wife in England, Spafford wrote the now-famous words to "It Is Well With My Soul."

Spafford eventually remarried and had eight more children. He continued to serve as a pastor and Bible teacher until his death in 1888.

The hymn "It Is Well With My Soul" has been recorded by many artists over the years and continues to be a source of comfort and hope for believers around the world.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
"It is well, it is [C/G]well with my soul."

Chorus:
It is well (It is well)
With my soul (With my soul)
It is well, it is w[C/G]ell, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed his own blood for my soul.

Verse 3:
My sin, o, the joy of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Verse 4:
And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
